24 Hour Comic Challenge

It’s comic up October 3rd! What are YOU doing for the big day?

I’m hanging with 15 – 20 other comic guys and gals here.

They are great fun and a very good practice at telling a story quickly & concisely. Also, if you can find a group

to do it with a group, it’s even more fun! If you’re in Pittsburgh, come on down!

24 Hour Comic Day

So, thanks to Evergreen’s Dan Greewald, we have a host for this year’s 24 Hour Comicbook day!!

The host is the super-groovy, Mt. Lebanon comic book store Time Tunnel Comics.

This year’s comic day is Saturday October 3,2009.

I will post more details as the become clear! Big ups to Dan and Pat Donley from Time Tunnel!

So what are you guys doing in your corner of the planet for this, it’s great fun, great practice, you get a book out of it, and if you find the right location, you can even get press like I did last year

We should somehow link this around the country and advert it here and our own sites!

You can even organise these yorselves and set up Facebook groups like we did.

It’s like 1998 (or 1988) all over again!

Here is the missing story from the Phineus archives. It was only missing because it’s been reimagined! Originally this was the bridge issue between Volume #1 and #2, a while after my divorce. I had been working on stuff with Brian, like Pan, Khosian Protocol and thelike, but this was the first Phineus story I had done in a while. I worked on it through 1998 and 1999, Brian started the story off, I wound up drawing ahead of him and he scripted around me, we work good like that!

Initally I had done no inks and tweaked the art in Photoshop, before I really knew how to do that. We were never really happy with the finished book, so Brian stole all the pages from me and shuffled them off to Xeric award winner Wayne Wise to work his inking magic! God bless him, these pages never looked so good! To top it off, Brian started coloring the stuff, which I am taking over, so we have our first full color Phineus story to boot!

The story is a flashback, to the eighties and shows when Phin and Sara met. I will smatter some comparison pages between new and old throughout and show other pages we left on the cutting room floor. Enjoy the ride!

We’ll return to Creephunter after this story, in the fall.

Medeocre Fan Art exchange

Guys and Gals,

I am proposing that we do an art exchange with one another. Fan art for fan art between the members of the Militia. I proposed this over at Rampage and the great and powerful Acadia came up with the wonderful pic you see here!

It will do several things for us:

1. Get us to better know our neighbors here at the Mediocre Militia.
2. Get us drawing more.
3. Get us some cross-pollenization form each others readers.
4. We all love when we get fan art, don’t we?

Harry Homa and the Pgh Steelers!

With all the talk about the 7th trip to the Superbowl by the great Steelers makes me miss my grandfather, Harry Homa, who was one of the photographers from the 70’s era Steelers.

I’ve worn Superbowl rings, worn actual practice shirts, met all the legends (including The Chief himself.

Next week they are replaying all the old Superbowls on NFL network, I’ll be watching, like when I was a kid, and looking for my Pap on the sidelines.

I miss ya Pap!

It Lives!!!

Well, I’m back in the saddle again. I, too , like Riot have been having tech issues. I killed my hard drive by loading itunes on it.

Thankfully, my friend and writer, Brian Babyok, was able to save all my unbacked-up work and rebuild the beast.

It’s better, faster, stronger!

I am 5 pages deep into drawing my new issue.

I have some fan art up and up and coming.

I any of you all want to send me some fan art, you’d get my undying love and affection!
